Why do I believe in creation?
Is it because I am
smarter than those who believe
in Evolution? No, actually it's because
I am not very
"smart" by human standards. Does this mean that it's smarter
to believe in evolution than creation? No! Let me explain.
Man cannot find the truth about God on his own. Without
God's grace, man will even ascribe God's great works in
creation to the creation itself (See Romans 1:18-25). God in
His infinite wisdom decided to reveal Himself to those that
the world deems foolish. Why is this?
"That no flesh should
glory in His presence." (See 1st
Corinthians 1:17-29, 2:14). God wants to get all the credit.
Therefore, He will bring to nothing the wisdom of the wise. In other
words, there is no true knowledge apart from acknowledging God as
Creator. God will share His glory with no man, and not with any false
god (man-made god). See Jeremiah 10:1-16 with a focus on verse 11,
"Thus you shall
say to them, 'the gods that have not made the heavens and the
earth shall perish from the earth and from under these
heavens.' " See also Isaiah 45, Acts 17:22-34.
Does this mean that believing in
creation is unscientific?
No, the scientific evidence that we observe in our world is
the same for people who believe in creation as it is for
those who believe in evolution. We live in the same world.
How can people see things so differently? It is because we
make up our minds about what we believe before we look at
the evidence. We all do that. If you don't believe in God,
then you believe that the universe had to evolve from
nothing. Therefore, any evidence that you see, such as rock
layers, fossils, DNA, etc., you must ascribe to your
evolutionary grid without honestly analyzing it. You can’t
because that might upset your world view. The very science
that you believe eliminates the need for a Creator God, is
the science that points to the necessity of a Creator God
who is outside of creation (see Romans 1:18-25 again). We who believe in a Creator God can see that your science is
bad.
But you can't because you are blind (see John 12:40). No
amount of scientific evidence can get you to change your
mind. It simply can't be done. Only God can do it through
His Word. Consider Psalm 19, in verses 1-6, God's creation
is evident to everyone, but in verses 7-11 it is God's Word
that converts the soul. If a person does not believe in
God's Word, even seeing a miracle will not change his mind.
(see
Luke 16:29-31)
How blind is the evolutionist,
scientifically speaking?
Well, you would have to believe that time did not exist and
then started ticking away for no reason. You have to believe
that. Time does exist now, but if time existed externally,
going back infinitely far we could never have traveled
forward to a finite point in time (now) from an infinite
past without time having had a starting point. Only someone
standing outside of time could have created time (see
Genesis 1:1).You
would also have to believe that matter created itself.
That's logical suicide! If matter didn't exist, then it
wouldn't be around to create itself. The First Law of
Thermodynamics states that matter or energy cannot be
created or destroyed, so for matter to come into being by itself,
this fundamental law would be broken. Your only other option
is then to believe that matter is eternal, however, that
would break another fundamental scientific law. The Second
Law of Thermodynamics states that entropy is increasing. In
other words, usable energy is running out. This creates a problem for
the eternal matter position, because the universe would have run out of
energy a long time ago. The universe would have died a heat energy death
and we wouldn't be here now. God's word tells us that the
earth would wear out because it is not eternal like He is
(see Hebrews 1:10-12). You would also have to believe that Intelligence (D.N.A.)
came from non-intelligence - that the dumb stuff made the
smart stuff. This is just a small fraction of the scientific problems involved in believing in evolution.
The
solution to these scientific problems
and our
spiritual problem is found in the first verse of the Bible,
Genesis 1:1, In the beginning, God created the heavens and
the earth. This is a very scientific statement, and if we
believe God’s Word, our scientific problem is solved. Time,
space, and matter all need each other to exist. Time is a
physical entity (See Einstein's Theory of Relativity,
Time-Space continuum, etc.) So Time, Space and Matter would
need to come into existence at the same time, and they would
need to be created by something that existed apart from
their influence. Behold, God. In the beginning (Time),
God
(External Force) created the heavens (Space)
and the earth
(Matter). This is where true science begins. So why do I believe in creation? I give all the credit to
God.
Even my faith is a gift from God (see Ephesians 2:8, 9).
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God
(Romans 10:17). God granted me faith through hearing the
message of the Gospel being preached by faithful men (see
Romans 1:16, 17). Now that I believe in God through His
Word, my eyes are open and science agrees perfectly with
God's Word.
