Displays at FAIRS

Each summer we participate in various Fairs and other public venues, taking the Creation Evidence Boards we have created and setting up displays which also include replicas of artifacts.

Rock County 4-H Fair

July 25 – August 1, 2004, Tuesday a.m. through Sunday p.m.

Jointly with a local church (Midwest Christian Center, Janesville, WI), we  sponsored and ran a Creation Evidence Booth (theme: “In the Beginning God”).

The booth was in a 14x24 tent at the County 4-H Fair.  We were required to have the booth open and staffed the entire operational hours of the Fair, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, Tuesday through closing of the Fair the following Sunday.  The booth was staffed by a minimum of three people at all times, usually more.  Nine Christian Creation Association members participated, along with 8-10 members of the church and 8-10 other volunteer “friends” of Creation who belong neither to CCA or that church but wanted to help with the outreach.

We had a game to offer fair-goers, with the purpose of engaging people (adults and children) in learning the scientific evidences that support Creation.  We offered small prizes to anyone (child or adult) who would take an 8 question test.  Answers to the test questions were found on the 12 Creation Boards.  The boards cover many topics related to Creation-Evolution, and the scientific evidences that support Creation.  If a person took 5 tests, they also got a “Dr. of Biblical Reality” degree (an official looking certificate).

These tests gave us opportunity to discuss and educate fair-goers on the Biblical account of Creation, and to discuss the scientific evidences that support a 6,000 year old universe.

In 2004, we gave over 1000 tests, to over 600 individuals. Each person was signed in on the computer before they take the test, so we do have a count of individuals who participated.   In addition, about 120 people earned their “Dr. of Biblical Reality” degree, meaning they had taken five tests.  In addition to the people who took tests and signed in on the computer, there were numerous others – hundreds, we did not try to count – of people walked through the booth and looked at the displays.  We had discussions with many of these people and informed them about issues regarding Creation.  We handed out flyers inviting people to CCA meetings and also educating them on Creation issues.

Convoy of Hope Fair

August 21, 2004

This is a large civic – community Fair in which persons in need are acquainted with service organizations in the community.  Free groceries, free hair cuts and health screenings are available.

CCA was in a large tent called “Community Services”.  We had two tables on which we were able to display six of our twelve Fair Creation Boards.  There were numerous other community services in the same tent, such as  AARP, YWCA and many churches.

We did not play games at the Convoy of Hope Fair, but did give small prizes to anyone who walked by (one of the requirements of Convoy of Hope was that we had something to give away to fair-goers).  We talked to people about Creation and the Bible and invited them to CCA meetings.  We offered to come and speak about Creation at any church or other group that would like to learn more on the subject.  We handed out some of our own printed educational flyers.

We kept no records of how many people we talked to.  The entirety of the Convoy of Hope Fair was very successful (I don’t remember the numbers, but overall the Fair served many thousands).  Our tables were busy, and there was a steady stream of people flowing through the Community Services tent.

Rock County 4-H Fair

July 26 – 31, 2005 Tuesday a.m. through Sunday p.m.

This ran the same as in 2004, and again the theme was “In the Beginning God”.  We worked with the same local church again, Midwest Christian Center, Janesville, WI.  We had the same tent, took our 12 Creation Evidence Boards and played the same games.  Staffing the booth was again about the same, a joint effort between 7 CCA board members, several other CCA members, 9-10 church members and 6-8 other “friends” of Creation who do not go to that church or belong to CCA.

In 2005, we gave over 1200 tests, to almost 700 individuals.  In addition, over 100 people earned their “Dr. of Biblical Reality” degree.  In addition to these people, who signed in on the computer, numerous others – hundreds, we did not try to count – of people walked through the booth and looked at the displays.

June 2007  – New Creation Evidence Boards. CCA has free use of the new Creation Evidence Boards produced by member Ursula Rinn.  The original set of Creation Evidence Boards has been re-worked into new software and printed professionally.  The Boards are in essence the same subject-matter and presentation as the original set, which were also produced by Ursula Rinn.  The new set of 30 x 40 inch boards are now water-proof and less fragile than the original set.  There are 17 Creation Evidence Boards related to the game-test series, and in addition there are 10 other boards related to Creation.  CCA did not pay the costs of the boards, the boards are the property of CCA member Ursula Rinn.  The new boards were used at Rock County and Boone County Fairs in 2007, as well as Freedom Fest over the 4th weekend, and  the Farmer’s Market in Madison.

Creation Dinosaur Museum - July 2007 - At our Fairs in 2007, we increased the number of artifact replicas we have, and displayed them in a new format which we call the “Creation Dinosaur Museum”.  Small explanatory narrative cards inform the viewer what is interesting about the artifacts.  Chris Jason donated the use of his 2+ foot leather dinosaur to attract fair-goers attention to the “Museum”.
